Conditions We Help With

The chiropractors and therapists at Weston Creek Chiropractic Centre assess, diagnose and help manage problems of the spine and its joints, the muscles that support them and the nerves that run through it all. This page maps every condition we publish a guide for, grouped the way patients actually experience them rather than the way textbooks file them, so you can jump straight to the one that sounds like your week. Where a problem sits outside chiropractic scope, we say so plainly and refer you to the right practitioner, which is a promise the last section of this page makes in writing.

What do chiropractors treat? In Australia, chiropractors assess, diagnose and manage musculoskeletal and nervous system conditions: the spine and its joints, the muscles that move them, and the nerve symptoms that arise when either is irritated. Everything else belongs with a different practitioner, and honest clinics say so.

How to use this page: each block below groups related conditions the way they show up in real bodies, with a link to the full guide for every one we publish. The guides share a format, what the condition is, what usually causes it, how assessment works, what management involves and how long things typically take, so once you have read one, the rest feel familiar. Nothing on this page requires a referral to act on; if a guide sounds like you, an assessment is one online booking away.

Woman with lower back pain, the most common condition our Canberra chiropractors manage

Back and Spine

The busiest column in our appointment book, and the reason most Canberrans first meet a chiropractor at all. General back pain covers the aches that arrive after lifting, gardening or one wrong twist, while our dedicated lower back pain guide digs into the region responsible for most of the sick days in this city. Disc trouble deserves its own careful handling, so disc injuries explains bulges, herniations and the difference between the scary scan report and what actually matters. For curves rather than strains, the scoliosis page walks through types, degrees and how monitoring decisions are made for teens and adults.

Neck pain from desk work, assessed and managed at Weston Creek Chiropractic Centre

Neck and Head

Canberra's screen-heavy working week keeps this group busy, and the pattern is depressingly consistent: hours of meetings, one monitor slightly off-centre, and a neck paying the invoice by Thursday. The neck pain guide covers stiff, locked and grumbling necks and the desk habits behind most of them. Many headaches begin at the top of the neck, the cervicogenic pattern our chiropractors assess for and help manage, and the guide explains how we tell that type apart from the headaches that belong with your GP. After a car accident, the whiplash page covers delayed symptoms, realistic recovery and the ACT CTP insurance process, including why a GP or insurer referral comes first.

Nerve pain radiating from the spine, carefully assessed before any treatment in Canberra

Nerve Pain

Pain that travels is a different animal from pain that stays put, and we examine it more cautiously for exactly that reason. The sciatica guide follows the classic line from lower back to leg and explains what helps, what aggravates and when imaging enters the picture. Its close cousin, the pinched nerve, covers compression symptoms wherever they strike, from a numb thumb to a burning shoulder blade. Both guides are blunt about red flags: numbness, weakness or symptoms in both legs mean assessment first, always, and sometimes a referral before any treatment at all.

Shoulder and limb pain treated with joint and muscle care at our Weston clinic

Joints and Limbs

Not everything we help manage lives in the spine, though the spine has opinions about most of it. The shoulder pain guide covers the joint that trades stability for range and pays for it, from rotator cuff grumbles to the shoulder that will not reach the top shelf, while the hip pain guide gives stairs, sitting and side-sleeping the same honest coverage. And because muscles guard whatever joints struggle, the muscle tension guide explains why some knots keep returning and how massage, needling and joint care combine to break the cycle.

Posture improvement and mobility support for Canberra office workers

Posture, Mobility and Sleep

The quiet conditions, raised at the door on the way out and often the most rewarding to work on because nobody expected help with them. The posture guide separates what actually matters from mirror-anxiety and sets out changes that survive a real working week. Mobility covers the stiffness that creeps in each year and the joint and muscle care that helps push it back. And because nothing sabotages recovery like bad nights, sleep and spinal health looks at positions, pillows and the aches that wake you at 3am.

Pregnancy and family life stage care at Weston Creek Chiropractic Centre

Life Stage Concerns

Some presentations are less a condition than a season of life asking new questions of a body. Pregnancy loads the pelvis and spine week by week, and our chiropractic care during pregnancy adapts technique and positioning right through to postnatal recovery. Children aged six and up are welcome for age-scaled family care, and older patients get the low-force approach their joints deserve, with osteoporosis screening and medication checks before any adjusting begins. Each of these is covered in depth on its service page under the Chiropractic menu, because a life stage deserves a plan, not just a symptom label, and because these patients have been this practice's heart since the 1970s.

When We Refer You Elsewhere

Chiropractic has a scope, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. Signs of inflammatory disease, unexplained night pain or weight loss, fractures, infections and anything cardiac or abdominal are not chiropractic problems, and symptoms like progressive weakness or numbness call for medical assessment before any adjusting. When your examination points that way, you leave with a referral and a written summary for your GP or specialist, not a treatment plan we cannot justify. The screening happens at every visit, not just the first one, because bodies do not schedule their surprises around care plans.

The same honesty applies in smaller ways. If your problem would respond better to a physiotherapist's rehabilitation program or plain rest, you will hear that too. After more than five decades in the same suburb, our reputation rests on the recommendations we did not talk anyone into.

And if calling feels easier than reading, use the number below. Describing your symptoms to the front desk takes two minutes, they will ask a practitioner if the answer is not obvious, and you will get a straight yes, no or see-your-GP-first before booking anything at all.

A note on the guides themselves: none of them replaces an examination, and every one says so. Bodies overlap their symptoms shamelessly, a hip can masquerade as a back, a neck as a headache, and the guide that matches your search term is not always the condition you actually have. Read for understanding, then let the assessment do the diagnosing; that order has served this community well for over fifty years.

Not sure if your condition is chiropractic? Ask; we refer honestly.
