FAQs

Can I make private health fund claims onsite?

Our Clinic uses the HICAPS system for processing your Health Fund claim at the time of your treatment. This means that you normally only pay the gap amount not paid by your Health Fund. Please note, the gap that you pay varies depending on your Health Fund, and on your level of cover.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No referral is needed to see a chiropractor at Weston Creek Chiropractic Centre unless you are receiving care under Medicare (Enhance Primary Care Plan) or through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

Do you accept third party insurance?

People who qualify for chiropractic treatment under the Medicare Individual Allied Health Services, workers’ compensation and Department of Veterans’ affairs arrangements, are accepted at the Weston Creek Chiropractic Centre. It should be noted that a referral from you GP is necessary in these cases.

Will I need x-rays?

On some occasions, we find it is necessary to refer people for x-rays or other investigations and Medicare covers chiropractic referrals for spinal x-rays.

How long do I need to allow for an appointment?

The initial appointment will take up to 45 minutes, each return visit will take a minimum of 15 minutes.

At the initial appointment, we take a full medical history. We will discuss our assessment with you, the examination, and our treatment recommendations. At this time, we may also treat during the initial consultation.

Cross referral with other allied health practitioners?

Sometimes, the chiropractor decides that our form of care is not suitable in certain instances so we refer people to their GP or other allied health practitioners (including physiotherapist, podiatrist, dentist, psychologist and pharmacist) for appropriate management.

Private Health Insurance

Private health funds pay claims for chiropractic. To make it easier for patients to process claims, the centre has a HICAPS electronic payment facility.

Third-Party Insurance

We accept third-party cases. Generally a medical referral is required for such instances. Comcare and most private workers’ compensation companies agree to be billed by us on behalf of patients. This also applies to motor-vehicle insurance cases.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs

Weston Creek Chiropractic Centre is registered to treat DVA beneficiaries. For such treatment, a medical referral from GP is necessary.

Medicare

The Chronic Disease Management scheme under Medicare allows for chiropractic treatment to be delivered to eligible patients. Our chiropractors are registered with Medicare for this.
